Manganese Metal Company (“MMC) based in Mbombela (Nelspruit, Mpumalanga Province), is the world’s largest producer of 99.9% electrolytic manganese metal (“EMM”). Our products are used in the top-end of the market, in the aluminum, steel, non-ferrous alloys, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, chemicals and welding consumable industries.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Safety Practitioner serves as a strategic Health and Safety advisor and risk management specialist. The incumbent proactively guides, influences, implements and manages the integrated HSE system. By driving a proactive risk-mitigation culture, the role ensures absolute regulatory compliance to supports worker safety and wellbeing and protect the organization from property damage and liability. BACKGROUND INFORMATION REGARDING THE JOB
In this position, the job incumbent will be part of the HSEQ team at MMC and play an important role in working closely with various departments to achieve HSEQ Objectives. This position is a great opportunity for the incumbent to display their skills in Risk Management, Internal Auditing and behavioral based Safety. As a self-starting, energetic professional, the incumbent must navigate organizational complexities independently and confidently influence stakeholders at all levels of the business

JOB OBJECTIVES
- Coordinate and implement HSEQ legal compliance, including compliance to relevant ISO standards.
- Maintain and update risk assessment.
- Co-ordinate and facilitate HSEQ legal related training.
- Coordinate emergency response, fire prevention and firefighting
- Contractor management
- Co-ordinate occupational health and hygiene activities within company
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- National Diploma in Safety Management
- SAMTRAC Certification
- 3 years’ experience in Safety in an industrial environment
