We are looking for a Systems Engineer Specialist to join our financial services client based in Johannesburg on a contract basis.
POSITION INFO
What you will be doing: Provide specialist technical expertise and support across enterprise infrastructure and systems environments Install, configure, test, tune, and optimise hardware, operating systems, and systems software Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system and infrastructure issues Perform system maintenance, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning activities Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability to ensure optimal operation Support and maintain operating systems, data management products, office automation solutions, and utility software Ensure systems adhere to security, compliance, and governance standards Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and support teams to resolve incidents and implement enhancements Develop and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and operational standards Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures to improve system stability Support disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity processes Participate in system capacity planning and infrastructure improvement initiatives What we are looking for: Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 7+ years' experience in Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Systems Administration Strong experience with enterprise operating systems and systems software administration Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise systems Experience with hardware, storage, and server technologies Strong knowledge of system monitoring, performance tuning, and optimisation Experience supporting enterprise production environments Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage complex technical issues Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Advantageous: Experience supporting Robotic Process Automation (RPA) platforms Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Experience with virtualization technologies Knowledge of automation and scripting tools ITIL certification or service management experience Experience within banking or financial services environments Please note if you do not hear from us within 3 weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful.
