About The Role

A well-established data-driven organisation is seeking a Mid-level Platform Engineer (Infrastructure & Networking) to join its technical team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and evolving core infrastructure environments where performance, reliability, and scalability are critical to business success.

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working close to the metal, solving complex infrastructure and networking challenges, and contributing to the continuous improvement of modern platform capabilities. You will work across on-premise/bare-metal systems, networking, storage, virtualization, and emerging container orchestration environments.

This is a technical, growth-focused role suited to a curious and self-driven individual who takes ownership of problems and enjoys building resilient systems in a fast-moving environment. You will collaborate closely with engineering and data teams to ensure platform stability and performance.

POSITION INFO

Key Responsibilities Manage, maintain, and optimize on-premise and bare-metal infrastructure environments Support and troubleshoot networking, storage, virtualization, and systems infrastructure Contribute to the evolution of Kubernetes and container orchestration capabilities Assist with automation, monitoring, observability, and operational tooling Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, performance, and network-related issues Work closely with engineering and data teams to improve platform reliability and scalability Take ownership of initiatives from concept through to production deployment Continuously improve operational processes, system resilience, and security practices Required Skills Strong Linux systems administration experience Solid networking fundamentals, including: TCP/IP Routing and switching DNS Firewalls Load balancing Experience with bare-metal and/or on-premise infrastructure environments Experience with scripting and automation (e.g. Bash, Python, or similar) Strong problem-solving ability and systems thinking mindset Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical challenges Desirable Skills Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tooling Understanding of observability and monitoring stacks (metrics, logs, tracing) Qualifications Industry-related Degree or Diploma, or equivalent practical experience 3-5 years' experience in infrastructure, systems administration, platform engineering, or a related technical environment Formal qualifications are advantageous but not essential, with strong emphasis placed on demonstrable experience and technical capability.
