SANBI is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated, dedicated, professional and responsible individual to manage and coordinate the safety in line with Occupational Health and Safety regulation and policy.

This position requires a degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health, or an equivalent relevant qualification at NQF Level 7. A postgraduate qualification or an equivalent relevant qualification at NQF Level 8 will be an added advantage. This position also requires 6 years of work experience in the relevant field, 3 years of which should be in supervisory position(s).

The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: advanced knowledge and experience of National Occupational Safety Association (NOSA) and Safety Management Training Course (SAMTRAC) systems; extensive knowledge and experience of legislation, policies, procedures, processes, practices, systems, and frameworks related to occupational health and safety management are essential; advanced project management, investigation, service focus, and negotiation skills; proven ability and experience to work with diverse team and under pressure whilst being quality, cost, and safety conscious; advanced planning, organizing, interpersonal, accuracy and attention to details, and problem solving skills; excellent communication skills at all levels (both verbal and written); excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including (Ms Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Outlook) will be advantageous. The possession of a valid driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Ensure National Occupational Safety Association (NOSA) five-star grading for SANBI;
  • Coordinate training to incidents investigators and Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) representatives
  • Maintain SANBI health and safety management system;
  • Ensure proper hygiene system, framework and survey for SANBI;
  • Communicate and manage health and safety training and awareness campaigns; and
  • Provide incidents reporting and management.
