NBC Holdings is a leading force in the South African employee benefits arena, providing a comprehensive range of employee benefits, products and services to 120 registered pension and provident funds, representing the retirement fund savings of more than 350 000 members

To design, develop, and maintain high-quality web applications using C# and .NET technologies. The role involves active participation in Agile processes, analysing business requirements, managing development tasks via DevOps, and continuously improving solutions through innovation and self-management. The Software Developer will contribute to delivering reliable, efficient, and scalable software solutions aligned with business objectives.

Key Outputs

Technical Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications using C#, ASP.NET (MVC/Core), and related technologies
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs
• Write and optimize T-SQL scripts and stored procedures in SQL Server
• Apply object-oriented programming principles and design patterns

Web Application Development

• Build responsive, user-friendly front-end components using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks
• Integrate front-end and back-end systems for optimal performance

Requirements Analysis

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements
• Translate business needs into technical solutions
• Proactively identify gaps and suggest improvements

Agile & Scrum Participation

• Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Manage tasks using DevOps tools and Scrum boards
• Provide accurate time estimates and progress updates

Communication & Collaboration

• Communicate effectively with developers, QA, and business users
• Document code, processes, and system changes
• Collaborate to resolve bugs and validate enhancements

Productivity & Ownership

• Deliver high-quality features and bug fixes within deadlines
• Work independently with minimal supervision
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Recommend improvements for processes, tools, and system performance
• Stay updated with emerging technologies

Experience

• 3–5 years’ experience in software development using C# and .NET (Framework/Core)
• Experience developing both front-end and back-end web applications
• Strong SQL Server experience, including T-SQL and stored procedures
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Exposure to Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools
• Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions

Qualifications

• Matric / Equivalent
• National Diploma in Computer Science / Software Development or related field

Technical Skills and Competencies

• Proficiency in C#, .NET Framework / .NET Core
• Strong web development experience
• Advanced SQL Server and T-SQL skills
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
