We are looking for a skilled and reliable Fractional IT Specialist to support our growing team on a part-time, remote basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional who enjoys variety, autonomy, and making a real impact without the commitment of a full-time role.

You will serve as our go-to technology partner, helping us maintain a stable, secure, and efficient IT environment across support, networking, cloud infrastructure, and software systems.

Key Responsibilities

General IT Support & Helpdesk

  • Respond to and resolve helpdesk tickets and end-user technical issues
  • Provide remote troubleshooting for hardware, software, and connectivity problems
  • Maintain documentation of common issues and solutions
  • Set up and configure new user accounts, devices, and access credentials

Networking & Infrastructure

  • Monitor and maintain network health, performance, and uptime
  • Configure and manage routers, firewalls, switches, and VPN connections
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues and implement network improvements
  • Ensure network security best practices are followed

Cloud & Server Management

  • Administer cloud environments (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, AWS or Azure)
  • Monitor server performance and manage backups and disaster recovery procedures
  • Manage user access, permissions, and licences across cloud platforms
  • Assist with cloud migrations or optimisation projects as needed

Software & Systems Integration

  • Support the integration of business applications and third-party tools
  • Troubleshoot software compatibility and performance issues
  • Liaise with software vendors for issue resolution and upgrades
  • Identify opportunities to automate or streamline IT workflows

Requirements

Essential

  • 3+ years of experience in an IT support, systems administration, or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, AWS or Azure
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues remotely
  • Experience with software integrations and API-based tools
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable remote working setup
  • Based in South Africa

Advantageous

  • Relevant certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified, AWS/Azure Associate
  • Experience supporting small-to-medium businesses (SMBs)
  • Familiarity with ITIL or similar IT service management frameworks
  • Experience with remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools
