Key Account Manager – Cape Town

Our client is an established manufacturing and distribution business supplying a wide range of products to major South African retailers. Operating within a high-volume environment with an extensive product catalogue, the business requires strong account management and data-driven decision-making to optimise product performance across retail partners.

They are seeking a commercially minded Key Account Manager to manage key retail accounts, focusing on product performance, stock movement, and range optimisation across a large SKU base. This is a relationship and analytics-driven role, not a cold-calling sales position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain relationships with major retail accounts
  • Oversee performance of a large product portfolio (±900 SKUs) across key clients
  • Analyse product sales data, stock movement, and shelf performance
  • Identify top-performing and underperforming products and drive corrective actions
  • Monitor product lifecycle, shelf presence, and rotation within retail environments
  • Work closely with buyers to optimise product ranges and listings
  • Provide data-driven insights and reporting to internal stakeholders and clients
  • Forecast demand trends and support planning based on sales data
  • Coordinate with internal teams (production, logistics, and planning) to ensure product availability
  • Ensure smooth execution of orders, stock replenishment, and delivery timelines
  • Travel to Johannesburg as required to manage key accounts

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Key Account Management within retail or FMCG environments
  • Strong analytical ability with experience managing large product ranges
  • Experience working with major South African retailers (essential)
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
