National Project Manager [Industrial Engineer]

Our client a leading Food Services and FMCG business based in Linbro Park, Sandton requires an experienced National Project Manager (Industrial Engineer) to drive strategic business improvement initiatives across its national operations.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for identifying, analysing, and implementing projects that improve operational efficiency, optimise assets and resources, enhance service delivery, and reduce operating costs.
The successful candidate will lead multiple concurrent projects across distribution, fleet, warehousing, facilities, cold-chain operations, plant and equipment, and supply chain processes.
Through data-driven analysis and sound commercial judgement, the incumbent will develop business cases and recommendations that support Executive decision-making and deliver measurable business value.
This role is ideally suited to a mid-to-senior career Industrial Engineer with strong project management experience and a proven track record in operationally intensive FMCG, Food Services, Logistics, Distribution, or Supply Chain environments.
Business Optimisation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and lead initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency, productivity, service levels, and profitability.
- Analyse business processes, workflows, and operational costs to identify improvement opportunities.
Supply Chain & Distribution Optimisation
- Analyse distribution networks, route-to-market strategies, and logistics processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiencies, fleet utilisation, and customer service performance.
Fleet, Facilities & Asset Management
- Assess fleet composition, vehicle utilisation, maintenance costs, replacement cycles, and operational performance.
- Recommend optimal fleet solutions aligned to operational requirements and growth plans.
Strategic Projects & Capital Investments
- Manage projects relating to business growth, infrastructure improvements, operational redesign, technology implementation, and asset investments.
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and return-on-investment assessments.
Executive Reporting & Decision Support
- Prepare detailed operational and financial analyses.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Procurement, and Branch Management teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering.
- Project Management qualification advantageous.
- Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Supply Chain certifications advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years' experience within FMCG, Food Services, Distribution, Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or related operational environments.
- Proven experience managing strategic business improvement and operational optimisation projects.
- Experience analysing fleet operations, distribution networks, warehousing, facilities, or supply chain processes.
- Demonstrated success in delivering measurable cost reductions and operational efficiencies.
- Experience presenting business cases and recommendations at Executive level.
