We are looking for a Video Editor who specialises in paid ad content - not branded storytelling or organic social. You will be cutting direct-response video ads that stop the scroll, hold attention, and drive action. If your reel is full of cinematic brand films and long-form documentaries, this is not the role for you. If your reel is full of high-converting ad creative, keep reading.
What You Will Do
• Edit short-form and long-form video ads for paid social channels (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Google).
• Build multiple hook variations per ad to support creative testing.
• Add captions, bold text overlays, CTAs, and motion-based elements that drive viewer retention.
• Deliver platform-optimised cuts across aspect ratios (9:16, 1:1, 16:9) and lengths.
• Iterate quickly based on performance data and creative briefs - we test constantly.
• Collaborate with the creative team on concepts, pacing, and ad structure.
What We Are Looking For
• Proven, demonstrable experience editing paid ad content - your portfolio must show ad creative, not just branded or organic content.
• Strong grasp of hook mechanics: why the first 1–3 seconds decide everything.
• Understanding of direct-response principles: grab attention, build interest, drive the click.
• Expert use of captions and on-screen text as conversion tools, not just accessibility features.
• Familiarity with key performance metrics: hook rate, watch-through rate (WTR), CTR, and how editing decisions impact them.
• Ability to move fast - revisions within 24 hours, multiple variants per week.
• Experience editing UGC, spokesperson-to-camera, and product demonstration formats.
• Working knowledge of AI tools for UGC and asset generation (e.g. Runway, Pika, HeyGen, ElevenLabs) - including prompt efficiency: getting usable outputs in as few iterations as possible to keep production lean and cost-effective.
What We Are NOT Looking For
• Editors whose background is exclusively branded content, documentaries, or narrative film - even if the work is technically excellent.
• Editors who prioritise aesthetics over performance.
• Editors who require lengthy briefs or slow, polished production processes.
Tools
• Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve (required).
• CapCut or similar for fast short-form delivery (advantageous).
• After Effects or motion graphics experience (a plus).
• Frame.io, Loom, or similar review/feedback tools.
• AI generation tools for UGC and asset creation: Runway, Pika, HeyGen, ElevenLabs, or equivalents (advantageous).
• AI productivity tools (ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) for scripting, briefing, and creative ideation - with an emphasis on prompt efficiency and minimising unnecessary iteration.
