Junior Associate Attorney Attorney Litigation

Van Velden-Duffey Attorneys is seeking a motivated and professional Junior Associate Attorney to join our Litigation Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing litigation matters, appearing in court, consulting with clients, drafting legal documents, and providing strategic legal support under the guidance of senior attorneys and directors.

This position is ideally suited to an admitted attorney with a strong litigation background who is looking to further develop their career within a dynamic and established legal practice.

Minimum Requirements

• LLB Degree.
• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 5 years' post-admission litigation experience.
• Proven experience in Magistrates' Court and High Court litigation.
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong drafting and legal research abilities.
• Ability to manage a litigation portfolio independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal practice management systems.
• Experience with GhostPractice and LexisNexis will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage litigation matters from inception to finalisation.
• Draft pleadings, notices, applications, opinions, and legal correspondence.
• Attend court appearances, consultations, pre-trials, and mediations.
• Conduct legal research and provide sound legal advice.
• Liaise with clients, counsel, experts, and third parties.
• Ensure compliance with court rules and procedural requirements.
• Prepare and present progress reports on matters.
• Assist directors and senior attorneys with complex litigation matters.
• Maintain high standards of client service and professional conduct.
