Position Overview

We are seeking an innovative and experienced Solution Architect – ECommerce to join our client's dynamic and forward-thinking IT Architecture team in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing available technologies and designing, recommending, and implementing pragmatic technical solutions that align with business objectives.

The role requires a strong understanding of the ECommerce domain, solution architecture principles, and modern technology platforms across on-premise and cloud environments. The successful candidate will work closely with enterprise architects, domain architects, project teams, and business stakeholders to shape the future retail technology landscape.

Key Responsibilities Solution Design

• Analyse business strategies, priorities, and processes to determine technology requirements and solutions.
• Design applications and services that deliver business outcomes.
• Understand and manage interactions between multiple applications and systems.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with future business growth.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including:
• Programming
• Integration
• Testing

• Ensure compliance with governance, risk, and legislative requirements.

Architecture Design

• Platforms

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.

• Provide technical thought leadership and influence strategic decision-making.
• Drive innovation within the ECommerce and retail technology landscape.

Team Development

• Share architectural best practices.
• Mentor and coach developers and technical teams.

Minimum Requirements Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in:

• Computer Science
• Information Systems
• Engineering
• Related IT discipline

Experience

• Minimum 5+ years' experience in IT Solutions Development.
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in Solution Architecture.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale applications and solutions.
• Strong experience within the ECommerce business domain.
• Retail industry experience is advantageous.
• Experience with cloud and on-premise environments.
