SUMMARY

Lexdan Select is assisting a Corrugated Board Manufacturer with their search for a Graphic Designer-Packaging. Based in Bronkhorstspruit Gauteng.

POSITION INFO

Key Responsibilities Design and develop corrugated packaging solutions including cartons, die-cut boxes, POS displays, trays, and custom packaging using structural CAD software Create technical drawings, prototypes, samples, and mock-ups while ensuring compliance with industry standards and structural integrity requirements Optimize material utilization, board layouts, pallet configurations, and manufacturing processes to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency Prepare print-ready artwork, manage pre-press requirements, and ensure accurate colour separations and print quality across flexographic, digital, and litho-laminated processes Collaborate with customers and sales teams by providing technical packaging expertise, presenting concepts, creating 3D renderings/mock-ups, and managing design revisions Work closely with production teams to resolve manufacturing issues, improve design performance, and drive continuous waste reduction initiatives Establish and maintain drawing registers, artwork control systems, revision controls, and document management processes to support operational excellence Support packaging testing, tooling development, quality compliance, new product development, and ERP/document management systems Key Requirements Minimum Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) with a relevant qualification or equivalent industry experience 3-5+ years' experience in structural packaging design and technical graphic design. Essential experience within the corrugated packaging manufacturing industry, including knowledge of board grades, paper weights, liner types, and flute combinations. Advanced proficiency in ArtiosCAD or AutoCAD for structural packaging design. Advanced proficiency in CorelDRAW and Adobe Illustrator for graphic design and pre-press production. Strong understanding of packaging engineering principles including FEFCO standards, ECT, BCT, die-cutting processes, flexographic printing, palletization, and logistics. Strong analytical and commercial mindset with a focus on precision, problem-solving, manufacturing efficiency, and cost optimization
