Director: Supply Chain Management (Higher Education) Johannesburg Our client, a leading institution in the higher‑education sector based in Johannesburg, is seeking an experienced Director: Supply Chain Management (SCM) to lead and elevate their end‑to‑end procurement and supply chain function. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving excellence, compliance, innovation, and strategic value across the SCM environment. Minimum Requirements Postgraduate/Honours degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (NQF 8). 8 years' finance management experience, preferably within SCM. 5+ years' senior people‑management experience in a medium to large organisation. 3-5 years' direct SCM experience. Recommendations A Master's degree. A Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification. Key Responsibilities Lead the overall performance and strategic direction of the Supply Chain Management Unit. Ensure an effective, efficient, and compliant SCM value chain aligned to institutional objectives. Drive excellence in procurement, tender administration, warehousing, distribution, supplier management, and contract management. Develop and implement SCM, Travel, and Asset Management policies aligned with legislation and best practice. Oversee demand management, expenditure control, and continuous risk assessment. Manage supplier performance, enterprise development targets, and stakeholder relationships. Lead and develop SCM talent within a dynamic, high‑performance environment. Strengthen internal controls and ensure consistent operational standards. Oversee the institution's asset management function.
