Tekkie Town is seeking to employ an experienced Accountant for a 10 month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for various accounting functions and assist with finance related projects.

Our ideal candidate must be self-motivated, positive, and passionate about performance, a resilient individual who can think laterally and who has strong analytical and proven accounting & reporting abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Various accounting responsibilities for our SA and Namibia entities as required, including:
    • Balance Sheet Reconciliations - preparation & review thereof
    • Posting of General Journals & review thereof
    • Provisions & accruals
  • Support & assistance to the company’s Stock Accountant in:
      • Costings & journals for stock imports
      • Support to the overall stock function as required
  • Monthly VAT checks and VAT return preparation & submissions
  • Intercompany invoicing and reconciliations
  • Quarterly reconciliation of Lay Buys reconciliations and reporting
  • Assistance with Gift Voucher reconciliations and reporting
  • Assistance with internal & external audits
  • Review and release of weekly payments
  • Support the Finance Manager in ad hoc projects and business initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce essential.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ relevant accounting experience.
  • Preference for completed articles (consideration to AGA(SA) or SAIPA qualification, or similar.
  • Audit background / articles with a reputable audit firm highly advantageous.
  • Experience on MS Business Central accounting software or similar package would be advantageous.
  • Practical knowledge of IFRS, IAS and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in the latest Microsoft (Word & Advanced Excel) and G Suite packages is an essential requirement.
  • Good communication skills (both internal and external stakeholders).
  • A strong logical thinking and analytical ability with excellent numerical skills and the ability to be accurate and pay attention to detail.
  • This person must be performance-driven and deadline-orientated.
  • Excellent planning, organizing and time management skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible, function under pressure and maintain a positive attitude and work performance in a variety of circumstances.
  • Ability to multi-task and to deal with complexities, use initiative to solve problems.
  • Ability to work independently, accept responsibility for workload, as well as be a team player.
