  • POSITION INFO: Key Responsibilities Analyse business needs, investment-domain problems, processes, and system behaviour across the range of the company's products. Apply quantitative, qualitative, and visual analysis to understand complex problems and communicate possible solutions clearly. Support discovery activities, problem definition, solution framing, and visualisation of workflows, concepts, user journeys and UI ideas. Translate business and regulatory needs into structured requirements and backlog inputs. Create user interface mock-ups, diagrams, process flows, and other visual artefacts that make complex problems easier to understand and guide front-end development. Use and continuously improve the companyâ€s approved AI tools to support the business analysis process, including meeting note analysis, requirements gathering, use-case creation, UI specification, documentation, and insight generation to enhance quality and speed of output. Prepare product artefacts to support governance and decision-making. Support product committee submissions and evidence packs. Shadow the Head of Product Office in prioritisation, trade-off, and governance decisions. Where applicable, take ownership of defined technology features, products or components. Provide input into prioritisation of product backlogs within agreed guardrails. Engage stakeholders across Technology, Operations, Compliance, Proposition and Distribution. Ensure delivery outcomes align to product intent and business value. Assist with demos, documentation and rollout of new features and products. Assist with the definition and measurement of success of the feature or product that is analysed.  What Success Looks Like Strong understanding of the company's products, asset management concepts, investment processes, and operating context. Sound judgement in balancing commercial, operational, and regulatory needs. Increasing independence in analysis, requirements shaping, AI-assisted artefact generation, product decision-making and prioritisation. Respected and trusted by members of the PO team as well as teams with whom we collaborate. Experience 3–5 years of experience in analytical, product, investment, consulting, engineering, technology, or related problem-solving roles. Meaningful exposure to financial services, asset management, investments, portfolio construction, investment platforms, or similar regulated environments is strongly preferred. Experience using various AI tools for analysis, summarisation, requirements generation, prototyping, UI specification, or documentation is advantageous. Experience with or working knowledge of IT / software development / database structures will be beneficial. Experience of working in agile / scrum environments alongside software developers. Education Qualifications At a minimum, an undergraduate degree in a discipline that demonstrates strong analytical, quantitative, visualisation, and problem-solving capability, such as engineering, analytical sciences, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, computer science, information systems, finance, economics, or a related commercial discipline. A financial, investment, asset management, or quantitative component, either as part of the degree or as a post-graduate course, is strongly preferred. Strong academic track record showing consistent performance. Additional investment, product, data, technology, or financial qualifications such as CFA, CA(SA), CPA, actuarial, data science, or UX/product-related qualifications would be beneficial. Culture and personality fit are critical. PortfolioMetrix is a dynamic business that retains a strong entrepreneurial spirit and has a driven, team-oriented culture. Strong asset management and investment-domain knowledge is important, including instruments such as equities, bonds, property and cash; asset allocation; risk and return; efficient frontiers; portfolios; model portfolios; funds; and investment platforms. Knowledge of the financial advice process is highly preferable, including financial personality/risk appetite assessment, cashflow modelling, suitability, tax, retirement and estate planning, compliance, portfolio construction, investment via a platform, and regular performance reporting. Curiosity, experience with, and willingness to experiment with AI tools to improve analysis, requirements development, prototyping, documentation, and communication are a strong advantage. Ability to structure ambiguous problems, identify the core issue, visualise options, and convert thinking into clear requirements, use cases, and product artefacts; prior formal business analysis experience is not strictly required. Strong problem-solving ability, including the ability to break complex issues into components, evaluate trade-offs, and make the reasoning visible to others. Strategy execution – the ability to translate strategy into coherent products that align with the product roadmap. Inter-personal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, advisers and third-party product providers. Project management knowledge and skills are preferable, however while delivery awareness and coordination are important, this role does not carry project management accountability - its focus is on product quality, value, and decision support. Foster an open and constructive environment where colleagues are excited to brainstorm, visualise ideas, challenge assumptions, and narrow options without discouraging contribution. Strong at prototyping, sketching, diagramming, and working up the strongest ideas to play back to the company. Ability to present and defend solutions in group settings using clear reasoning, visual artefacts, and evidence. Demonstrated ability to grow into a decision-making role. Comfortable working with ambiguity and complexity. Attention to detail and accuracy of work are very important.
