This is a highly operational, field-based role that requires a unique blend of team leadership, relationship building, and creative digital storytelling.
The successful candidate acts as Wena WiFi’s eyes and ears on the ground, navigating the unique dynamics of township economies while taking full ownership of capturing and guiding hyper-local social media content. This position is essential for driving subscriber uptake, maximising brand visibility, and fostering long-term community trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Activations & Uptake Management
- Daily Activations Setup: Ensure that daily marketing activations are seamlessly set up and executed in high-footfall, strategic areas to directly increase user uptake and marketing exposure.
- Event Integration: Identify, secure entry into, and leverage key community, sporting, or business events to showcase Wena WiFi services and maximise market penetration.
- Campaign Execution: Actively attend and oversee promotions and field activations, keeping energy levels high and directly motivating the field teams.
- Grassroots Marketing: Lead on-the-ground campaigns including localised flyer drops, door-to-door knocks, and community networking events.
- Community Partnerships & Township OOH Branding
- Spaza Shop & Local Business Branding: Create, develop, and foster deep relationships with key Spaza shop owners, local businesses, and informal traders to secure and manage Out-of-Home (OOH) branding and activation footprints.
- Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key community leaders, ward councilors, business forums, and local organisations to pave the way for frictionless marketing access.
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Identify, establish, and execute partnership opportunities with local community initiatives that align directly with Wena WiFi’s CSR goals, building brand equity and trust from within the community.
- Local Compliance & Safety: Navigate local township dynamics safely and respectfully, ensuring all field activities comply with local community norms, permissions, and security protocols.
- Project Management & Trade Exchanges
- End-to-End Event Management: Act as the project manager for all localised events, handling activations from the initial planning phases and resource allocation through to on-site execution and post-event clean-up.
- Trade Exchange Agreements: Negotiate, draft, and manage mutually beneficial trade exchange agreements with local event organisers, businesses, and venues to maximise exposure while optimising budget spend.
- Social Media Content & Strategy Execution
- Strategy Collaboration: Partner closely with the Social Media and Marketing Manager to develop, curate, and execute Wena WiFi's localised social media strategy to achieve growth and engagement objectives.
- High-Quality Content Capture: Shoot, film, and produce high-quality, authentic on-the-scene content (photos, short-form videos, vox pops, and behind-the-scenes footage) during daily field activations and community events.
- Township Content Expert: Serve as the strategic guide for what digital content works best in the township ecosystem, ensuring messaging, humor, and visuals resonate genuinely with the local community.
- Team Creative Direction: Train, guide, and mentor field promo agents on how to spot content opportunities and shoot effective raw footage on their mobile devices to maintain a steady stream of online updates.
- Trend Tracking: Monitor hyper-local digital trends, viral sounds, and platform features (e.g., TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, WhatsApp Status) to keep Wena WiFi’s online presence culturally relevant and engaging.
- Team Leadership & People Management
- Agent Supervision: Provide direct, day-to-day management, scheduling, and performance tracking for the Promotions Agents and field teams.
- Onboarding & Training: Assist in training new promotional staff on brand values, product knowledge, township engagement etiquette, and field sales techniques.
- Flexibility & Weekend Oversight: Manage, support, and supervise the activation teams during weekends and holidays when community events and foot traffic are at their peak.

- End-to-End Supply Management: Responsible for proactively ordering all marketing and promotional collateral to meet field demands.
- Supplier & Quote Management: Source competitive quotations and oversee final production of all branded assets, including uniforms, merchandise, gazebos, flyers, and exhibition materials.
- Logistical Oversight: Manage the storage, packing, transport, and distribution of promotional materials to field teams, ensuring the marketing storeroom remains organised, audited, and fully stocked.
- Insights, Data & Customer Relations
- Market Intelligence: Collect and collate qualitative and quantitative data from field surveys, consumer interactions, and competitor activities in active and upcoming zones.
- Field Support & Resolution: Act as the first line of defense for customer queries or complaints encountered in the field, ensuring exceptional customer service and swift resolution.
