Job Title: Truck Driver (Code 10 / Code 14)

Job Summary:
A Truck Driver is responsible for operating heavy vehicles to transport goods over short or long distances. The driver ensures timely deliveries, vehicle safety, and compliance with road regulations. Code 10 drivers typically operate medium-heavy vehicles, while Code 14 drivers operate heavy articulated trucks such as trailers and superlinks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and follow traffic laws
  • Transport goods to customers, warehouses, or retail stores
  • Load and unload cargo when required
  • Inspect vehicle before and after trips (brakes, tyres, lights, fuel, oil)
  • Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit
  • Plan delivery routes and meet schedules
  • Complete delivery notes, logbooks, and transport documents
  • Report vehicle faults, accidents, or delays
  • Maintain cleanliness of the truck
  • Follow company safety procedures and transport regulations

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Valid Code 10 or Code 14 driver’s license
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) in South Africa
  • Proven driving experience (especially for Code 14)
  • Good knowledge of road safety and transport laws
  • Defensive driving skills
  • Ability to read maps / GPS and plan routes
  • Good communication and time management
  • Physically fit for loading/unloading if required

Working Conditions

  • Long hours on the road
  • May involve local or long-distance trips
  • Weekend, night, or overtime shifts may be required
  • Exposure to different weather and road conditions
