COMPETENCY PROFILE:- Responsibilities
Directly manage and control all aspects of at least (but not limited to) two (2) large-scale complex or significant engineering projects, from start to finish, to ensure they are completed to the standards required within the agreed timescale and to the agreed budget level, meeting all SHEQ requirements at Aleng South Africa (Pty) Ltd.
Project Management:- Planning and Design
Take full ownership of at least two large-scale, complex and significant engineering projects, managing all aspects from initiation through to completion.
Develop a detailed Project Plan aligned to overall deliverables and project lifecycle:-
- Participate in all project meetings
- Be familiar with all contractual and commercial conditions of the contract
- Manage all project design and engineering processes and coordinate and organise relevant meetings
- Define the scope of projects and resulting implementation plans
- Create, maintain and utilise Project Cost Management programs to manage projects
- Do Baseline Risk Assessments of projects, and provide project risk registers
- Define, in consultation with project stakeholders, the benefits, costs, key result areas and success criteria for defined projects
- Define project stages and the objectives and costs associated with each stage
- Create, maintain and utilise detailed project schedules to complete projects within budget and contractual delivery
- Identify resources required at each project stage to meet project objectives, negotiate and manage the availability of these resources and effectively manage all project resources
- Arrange and procure major and minor equipment (including secondary resources)
- Submit, approve and track orders
- Arrange and conduct handover meetings with site staff
- Arrange and secure transportation and/or shipping services
- Negotiate, secure and manage the services of sub-contractors
Manage FAT
Track Project and Resourcing Plan, adjust plan and approach accordingly when required.
Project Management:- Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor and report on project progress in a structured manner, drawing particular attention to deviations from the original project plan.
- Monitor and report on project-wide financials, including cash flow, supplier invoices, customer invoices, debtors, sureties’ bonds, guarantees, etc.
- Record and keep the proceedings of each meeting and files systematically to ensure accessibility
- Maintain and update project plans
- Direct and control projects to ensure that the teams achieve their objectives and that the best possible use is made of available resources
- Review all assigned projects and modify performance measures as necessary
- Manage project resourcing (staff, plant, tools and equipment, site facilities, etc.)
- Monitor progress on duties related to the projects
- Ensure SHEQ compliance
- Plan around possible project risks:-
o Provide sufficient security on site
o Evaluate employees’ safety on site (location, riots/civil war, etc.)
o Arrange for necessary transportation
o Arrange shipping services/facilities
o Ensure the arrangement of work permits
o Ensure Insurance

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum National Diploma – Electrical Engineering, Construction Management
- B Degree – Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 3 to 5 years proven Project Management experience in an electrical EPC environment
- SACPCMP Registered – Candidate or Professional Construction Manager or Construction Project Manager
- Sound knowledge of electrical engineering – LV, MV, HV, Reticulation, substation and overhead line projects
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of risk analysis techniques
- Post graduate qualification in Project Management advantageous
