Financial Reporting & Compliance Controller

An established transport and logistics company is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting & Compliance Controller to join our team.
Working closely with the Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, company compliance, statutory submissions, and supporting the company’s governance and reporting functions.
This position is based in a small office environment, making it essential that the successful candidate is able to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, manage multiple deadlines, and proactively identify and resolve issues without constant supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- VAT, EMP201 and Provisional Tax preparations and submissions
- Fuel levy calculations and submissions
- Month-end reporting support
- Preparation of schedules and supporting documentation for external accountants
- BBBEE administration and annual verification preparation
- Management of all company statutory and compliance requirements
- COIDA, Bargaining Council and Provident Fund administration
- Insurance administration, including Goods in Transit, Public Liability and Asset Insurance
- Monitoring and managing permits, licences, annual renewals and regulatory requirements
- Maintaining compliance registers and company records
- Assisting with management reporting and financial analysis
- Liaising with accountants, auditors, insurers and regulatory bodies
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Finance, Financial Reporting, or Compliance role
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Financial Management, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of VAT, EMP201, Provisional Tax, statutory submissions and reconciliations
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience managing multiple statutory deadlines and compliance obligations simultaneously
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Own reliable transport essential
Advantageous
- Sage Accounting experience
- BBBEE administration experience
- Experience preparing accounts to Trial Balance
Experience within the transport and logistics industry
