Machine Operation
- Operate CNC lathes, milling machines, machining centres, and other CNC-controlled equipment.
- Load raw materials, tooling, and workpieces into machines.
- Start and monitor machine operations to ensure correct machining processes are followed.
- Adjust machine settings and offsets as required to maintain product quality.
Production and Quality Control
- Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Measure and inspect completed components using precision measuring instruments such as verniers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
- Identify and report non-conforming products and process deviations.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
Machine Setup and Tooling
- Install, change, and set cutting tools, fixtures, and machine attachments.
- Perform routine machine setup activities according to job specifications.
- Verify tooling condition and replace worn or damaged tools when necessary.
Maintenance and Housekeeping
- Conduct routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
- Report machine faults, breakdowns, and maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all company safety procedures and regulations.
- Wear prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Relevant CNC Machining, Engineering, or Manufacturing qualification will be advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CNC turning and/or milling operations.
- Experience reading engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of CNC machining principles and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
- Understanding of machining tolerances and quality requirements.
- Basic understanding of CNC programming and G-code will be required..
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
