Optical Fitting Technician

The Role

As an Optical Fitting Technician, you'll handle, inspect, and process ophthalmic lenses to exacting technical and quality standards. Day to day, you will:

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment for cutting, edging, and fitting of lenses
• Verify lens powers, measurements, coatings, and treatments
• Read and interpret prescriptions and job tickets accurately
• Troubleshoot production issues and collaborate with laboratory and customer service teams to meet deadlines
• Document work, follow safety and quality protocols, and contribute to continuous process improvement

What You'll Bring

• Optics knowledge – solid understanding of ophthalmic lens materials, powers, and coatings
• Hands-on laboratory skills – experience handling lenses, operating finishing equipment, and performing quality checks
• Attention to detail – numerical accuracy and the ability to follow technical specifications and SOPs
• Communication skills – ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors
• Self-management – able to work independently on-site in Midrand

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an optical or lab technician, or in an optical manufacturing environment is a requirement.
• 3 - 5 Years experience
