Policy and Processes:
- Participate and support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives and values which includes reviewing the bank’s strategic plan and recommending ways to improve systems, processes, and services.
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes and systems, adding value to the Bank.
- Adapt to changes in legislation and redesign policies and processes where applicable.
Lending and Portfolio Monitoring:
- Accountability for the overall portfolio quality including minimizing risks, growing assets and enhancing revenues.
- Create a climate that enhances client satisfaction which includes understanding the client’s business needs to provide solutions that are unique and prompt. This may sometimes require meetings with clients.
- Setting suitable credit standards within the Bank.
- Provide high level direction and support to departmental managers in respect of lending.
- Ensure that an in-depth credit analysis in respect of both new credit requests and renewals of facilities.
- This includes the validation of information and assessing serviceability and feasibility.
- Oversee preparation and safe keeping of security documents.
- Recommend/support credit applications at the various Credit Approval Committees.
- Ensure timely delivery of all regulatory, group and head office reporting.
- Continuously monitor compliance with regulations and policies.
- Ensure that insurance values and property valuations are updated.
- Monitor non-performing loans and recovery strategies, ensure compliance with classification standards and provisioning requirements, and oversee legal matters including correspondence with attorneys.
Management:
- Create a climate that delivers world class service by encouraging a client-centric culture.
- Develop a capable high-performing team through feedback, coaching, mentoring and training.
- Implement performance standards with goals and objectives, ensuring a clear vision for the team as a whole and alignment with the Bank’s vision, values and strategy.
- Motivate employees to achieve their full potential, recognising and rewarding achievements.
- Manage and resolve issues as they arise by following the appropriate channels.
Credit Committee:
- Prepare and present the Bank’s portfolio quality at the various Credit and Risk Committees
- Represents Credit Risk in the Country Credit Committee at a Group level.
Audit:
- Mitigate credit related risks and liaise with Auditors as needed, addressing findings if applicable.
- BCom degree with majors in Accounting and Auditing, plus a relevant postgraduate qualification; Chartered Accountant qualification preferred.
- At least 10 years’ relevant senior-level experience managing a credit portfolio and team in a commercial banking environment.
- Relevant professional certifications and memberships.
Salary - R1.6m p/a (Negotiable) + Benefits
