Maintenance Fitter and Turner - Paarl

A well-established manufacturing facility in Paarl is seeking an experienced

Maintenance Fitter & Turner to join the engineering team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining production machinery, performing preventative maintenance, attending breakdowns, machining components, and ensuring maximum plant availability.

Key Responsibilities

Perform planned preventative maintenance on factory machinery and equipment

Attend to mechanical breakdowns and carry out repairs efficiently

Fault-find and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Dismantle, repair, assemble and install mechanical components

Operate workshop equipment including lathe, milling machine, grinders and drilling machines

Manufacture and modify machine parts and spares where required

Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals

Perform equipment inspections and identify potential failures

Assist with plant upgrades, installations and improvements

Maintain accurate maintenance records and job cards

Ensure compliance with company safety standards and housekeeping requirements

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric

Qualified

Trade Tested Fitter & Turner

N3 Mechanical Engineering qualification advantageous

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing / factory maintenance environment

Strong mechanical maintenance and machining experience

Ability to work independently and under pressure

Valid driver’s licence advantageous

Technical Skills Required

Mechanical fault finding

Bearings, gearboxes, shafts and couplings

Pneumatics and hydraulics

Welding and fabrication skills advantageous

Precision measuring tools

Engineering drawings and tolerances
