About the Role

This is a strategic and operational leadership role responsible for planning and executing potato production and raw material procurement for a processing plant. The Supply Manager ensures the right volumes of quality potatoes are delivered at the right time, place, and cost, in line with the Integrated Business Plan.

What You'll Do

• Supply Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement short-, medium-, and long-term potato supply strategies, including risk management and contingency planning to protect against supply disruptions from weather, disease, or market volatility.
• Grower Relationship Management: Build and expand a geographically diverse grower base, maintaining McCain as the "customer of choice." Support negotiations, contracting, and ongoing performance reviews with independent growers.
• Field & Extension Services: Lead the Extension Services team, oversee agronomic planning, and provide technical support to field officers and growers to improve crop performance and sustainability.
• Commercial & Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and drive continuous cost optimization across agricultural operations without compromising supply security or quality.
• Compliance & Transformation: Ensure full regulatory compliance, maintain HACCP and ISO quality assurance systems, and promote alignment with BBBEE transformation and ethical sourcing objectives.
• Sustainable Agriculture: Champion McCain's sustainable agriculture agenda, driving innovation in farming practices and climate-smart technologies across contracted farms.

What You'll Bring

• Qualification: BSc/B Agriculture (Hons) in Agronomy, Crop Science, or Plant Production. A postgraduate qualification in Agriculture or Commerce is advantageous.

• Experience: Minimum 5 years in the agricultural commercial sector, raw material procurement, or supply chain.

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of agricultural production systems - crops, climate, disease, fertilization, irrigation, and soils. Commercial potato experience is a strong advantage.

• Registrations: FERTASA; AVCASA. Registration as a Professional Natural Scientist with SACNASP is preferred.

• Other: Valid Code B Driver's License.
