SUMMARY
Role: Finance Team Lead
Location: Hybrid (Johannesburg based)
Our client is a successful and well known software company and they require an experienced Finance Team Lead. You will own your accounting cycle through to Management Accounts, supported by cash flow and accounts payable, while also overseeing the Accounts Receivable and credit vetting functions. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role suited to a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance operational delivery with team development.

Key responsibilities: Accounting Through to Management Accounts Financial Reporting & Controls: Oversee the end-to-end accounting cycle, month/year-end close, and IFRS/SA GAAP compliance. Produce rolling cash flow forecasts and monthly management accounts with variance analysis Order-to-Cash (O2C): Manage invoicing, AR aging, collections, and billing disputes. Lead credit vetting, risk profiling, and bad debt provisioning Accounts Payable & Assets: Approve supplier payment runs, expense claims, and fixed asset depreciation postings Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and allocate workloads across a small AR, credit, and accounting team to meet critical deadlines Governance & Auditing: Implement internal controls, ensure POPIA data compliance, and partner with internal/external auditors Candidate requirements: Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (essential) Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting, AR management, or credit control Proven experience compiling Management Accounts and month-end reporting packs Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or team leader role within a finance environment Hands-on experience with credit vetting platforms Professional qualification or part-qualification (SAICA, SAIPA, or CIMA) - advantageous Skills & Competencies Solid accounting knowledge up to Management Accounts level Strong knowledge of the full AR cycle, credit underwriting, and NCA compliance Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, financial modelling) Experience working with ERP and accounting systems Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills Analytical mindset with high attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines A curious, growth-minded approach, with a genuine willingness to learn and adopt AI and automation tools that improve finance workflows and reporting
