POSITION INFO
Title description: The Regional Sales Manager drives sustainable sales, margin growth, and range activation across the inland region by leading and enabling a high-performing sales team. The role focuses on improving regional coverage, execution consistency, and time in the field. It ensures strong alignment between national strategy and regional delivery in collaboration with Key Account Management. Success is achieved through disciplined planning, data-driven decisions, and consistent in-market execution Location: JHB - Sales Areas: PTA, East Rand, MP, Limpopo, Africa Key Responsibilities & Duties Sales Performance & Delivery - Achieve and exceed regional sales, margin, and product mix targets. Drive distribution growth and range expansion across customers. Translate national strategy into clear regional execution plans. Monitor and act on weekly / monthly sales performance trends. Team Leadership & Capability Development - Lead, coach, and develop Sales Representatives and Agent (TBC). Increase time in trade with the team (joint calls, coaching days). Build a high-performance, accountable sales culture. Conduct structured performance reviews and development plans Regional Coverage & Execution - Ensure optimal customer coverage across a large geographic area. Improve call planning, route efficiency, and visit quality. Maintain consistent execution of promotions, merchandising, and brand standards. Strengthen presence in underrepresented areas and channels Customer & Channel Development - Build strong relationships with regional customers and stakeholders. Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts. Support structured engagement with key accounts. Ensure alignment between head office agreements and in-store execution Sales Process & Data Utilisation - Use Reply CRM tool to: Track activity and performance quality. Capture customer insights and competitor intelligence. Drive data-led decision-making. Improve pipeline visibility and opportunity tracking Market Intelligence & Strategy Input - Gather and analyse customer, competitor, and market insights. Provide input into pricing, promotions, and product strategy. Identify risks and opportunities to grow market share. Operational & Administrative Management - Prepare and manage regional budgets and forecasts. Conduct and lead alternate monthly regional sales meetings. Ensure compliance with company policies and processes. Manage pricing, deals, and margin protection. Regional & Cross-Border Support - Support and develop agent relationships. Contribute to improving African market representation and coverage. Travel as required to support expansion and alignment. Minimum requirements: Minimum 5+ years in sales leadership / regional management Proven track record of delivering sales and margin growth Experience managing large territories and diverse customer bases Exposure to retail, wholesale, or building materials channels Experience working with or alongside key account structures Experience and qualifications Strong understanding of - Sales and distribution strategies, margin management and customer segmentation and channel dynamics. Knowledge of CRM systems, SAGE, and Microsoft tools. Leadership and coaching | Strategic and analytical thinking. Negotiation and influencing | Planning and time management.
