POSITION INFO

A well-established business is seeking an experienced Credit Manager to take ownership of the credit function within its finance team. This role is suited to a confident and analytical credit professional with strong leadership capability, a solid understanding of debtors management, and the ability to drive collections, reduce risk, and support cash flow optimisation across the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full credit operation, evaluating customer risk, maintaining effective credit control processes, and ensuring that accounts receivable are managed efficiently. The role also requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, external service providers, and regional teams to support sound credit practices and minimise bad debt exposure. This role is based in Edenvale. Key Responsibilities: Assess the financial stability of both prospective and existing customers by reviewing credit reports, financial statements and related information to determine creditworthiness and appropriate credit limits. Oversee the full credit-granting process, including the approval or decline of credit applications, setting and reviewing credit ceilings, and monitoring the accounts receivable book. Investigate and resolve customer account queries, with particular focus on major problem accounts, ensuring matters are dealt with accurately and within required timelines. Drive collections on overdue accounts, implement debt recovery strategies, and support initiatives aimed at reducing bad debts and minimising financial loss. Facilitate regular meetings with key stakeholders to address outstanding debt concerns and improve collection outcomes. Develop, maintain and enforce credit policies and procedures in line with business requirements and relevant legal or regulatory standards. Support debt collection legal processes, including liaison on credit guarantee matters, declarations and recovery procedures where necessary. Manage debtors-related adjustments, journals, provisions, credit notes, settlement discounts, reimbursements, and credit balance reviews. Oversee gross exposure against credit limits and monitor accounts on hold, suspense orders, and other risk-related account activity. Prepare and review monthly and weekly reports, including outstanding debtors schedules, cash flow projections, collection performance, and other credit-related reporting requirements. Handle general ledger reconciliations, intercompany confirmations, export debtors declarations, bad debt administration, VAT claims and write-offs in line with relevant accounting standards. Review and sign off on credit notes, trade discounts, master data amendments, journals and related authorisations. Assist with incoming funds monitoring, banking matters, foreign exchange-related issues and service-related finance requests. Manage vendor applications, sundry invoicing and selected intercompany invoicing processes. Provide support across cross-border operations, including Botswana, with management reporting and credit-related sign-off responsibilities. Work closely with finance, sales and management teams to establish payment terms, improve collections performance and optimise working capital. Maintain professional relationships with customers, collection agencies, insurers, credit bureaus and other relevant third parties. Perform daily reconciliations on cash sale accounts and assist with audit requirements and ad hoc finance-related duties as needed. Job Experience and Skills Required: Finance Degree and/or a Credit Management qualification Minimum 5 years' experience in a credit management role Strong understanding of credit control, collections, debtors management and accounts receivable processes Experience with reporting, reconciliations, bad debt management and credit risk analysis Exposure to legal collections processes, credit guarantees and export debtors administration would be advantageous Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Apply now!
