Role Purpose

Responsible for performing and controlling general accounting duties, in support of the overall finance operations and to manage risk and ensure accuracy of financial information.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent. (essential)
  • Degree or Diploma in Financial Management or Accounting or related qualification. (desirable)
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience (essential).
  • MS Excel
  • Pastel Accounting
  • Understanding of internal finance processes and controls.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial transacting systems.

Duties & Responsibilities INTERNAL PROCESS

  • Conduct all general accounting duties done in line with accounting principles and within agreed timeframe, including creditor payment process, process and upload journals with agreed timeframes, month end accounting process, VAT reconciliations and VAT returns.
  • Ensure implementation of appropriate financial controls.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for optimisation, within area of responsibility.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, in preparation for financial reporting.
  • Assist with compiling reports and analysing variances, by providing accurate financial information.
  • Assist in identify and reconciling discrepancies and problems in reports, to contribute to accurate financial reporting that creates business value.
  • Contribute to the audit process and resolve any audit queries within set deadlines.
  • Process monthly journals
  • Execute the financial aspects of contracts and verify that all financial commitments listed in agreement are met based on terms written in contract.
  • Investigate and resolve any financial queries.

CLIENT

  • Investigate internal client queries within the agreed service level and ensure that client receives timeous feedback.
  • Escalate internal client queries to the relevant department or stakeholder.
  • Provide authoritative, expertise and advice to internal clients and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver on service level agreements made with clients and internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that client expectations are managed.
  • Make recommendations to improve client service and fair treatment of clients within area of responsibility.
  • Participate and contribute to a culture which builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional client service.

  • Ensure accurate GL allocation of expenses.

  • Manage financial and other company resources under your control with due respect.
  • Provide input into the risk identification processes and communicate recommendations in the appropriate forum.
