Key responsibilities
Training Learners / Apprentices
Induct all learners / artisans prior to training.
Conduct trainability assessments where required.
Conduct trade test readiness assessments.
Facilitate theoretical and practical training for learners.
Prepare learners for trade tests ensuring that standards are met within specified time frames.
Provide ongoing feedback to customers and secure feedback from customers on the training and its needs.
Conduct final assessments.
Technical competencies
Strong knowledge of Diesel engines and earthmoving equipment (EME).
Fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Training, facilitation, and mentoring ability.
Knowledge of ETDP, SETA, and QCTO processes.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Education and Experience
Trade Test Certificate: Diesel, EME Mechanic Red Seal will be an advantage.
N2–N3 Engineering Studies (Diesel/EME) or equivalent qualification.
Assessor Certificate (registered with relevant SETA).
Moderator Certificate (advantage).
Minimum 5 – 10 years’ experience as a qualified Diesel, EME Mechanic will be an advantage.
Proven experience working with Diesel Mechanics and Earthmoving Equipment.
Experience in training and development, facilitating technical training (theoretical and practical).
Coaching and mentoring apprentices or learners.
Conducting assessments and compiling Portfolios of Evidence (PoE).
Working with SETA/QCTO requirements and compliance.
