SUMMARY

To maintain, repair and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring reliable plant operation, minimal downtime and safe production within the steel manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct planned preventative maintenance on plant machinery and equipment.
• Perform breakdown maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Fault-find and repair industrial machinery, motors, drives, gearboxes, pumps and conveyors.
• Maintain continuous casting machinery, rolling mill equipment and material handling systems.
• Install, commission and test new equipment and machinery.
• Conduct alignment, fitting, assembly and replacement of mechanical components.
• Troubleshoot electrical control systems, sensors, limit switches and motor circuits.
• Perform inspections on bearings, shafts, couplings, chains, sprockets and transmission systems.
• Repair and maintain hydraulic power packs, cylinders, valves and pneumatic systems.
• Ensure plant equipment complies with safety, quality and operational standards.
• Complete maintenance reports, job cards and equipment history records.
• Participate in shutdowns, plant overhauls and continuous improvement projects.
• Support production teams to minimise downtime and maximise equipment efficiency. Minimum Requirements
• Qualified Millwright Trade Test (Red Seal).
• N3 Engineering Studies minimum.
• 5 years experience as a Millwright in a heavy industrial environment.
• Experience within steel manufacturing, foundries, rolling mills, smelters, steel processing or metal manufacturing plants.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of industrial motors, drives, gearboxes and conveyor systems.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Computer literacy.
• Valid drivers licence. Advantageous
• Experience on Continuous Casting Machines (CCM).
• Experience on Rolling Mills.
• Overhead Crane maintenance experience.
• PLC fault-finding exposure.
• Siemens, ABB or Schneider equipment experience.
• Welding and fabrication exposure.
• Working at heights certification.
• Forklift or mobile equipment maintenance experience.
