This role supports the Finance team in managing day-to-day transactional finance activities across multiple OMAI group entities focusing mainly on OMAI and African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM).
The successful candidate will focus on cashbook management, accounts payable and receivable processing, reconciliations, and supporting month-end processes. The role supports the team during a transitional period, helping to stabilise processes while identifying efficiencies that enable a leaner operating process over time. It requires a detail-oriented finance professional who is comfortable working across multiple entities and managing high-volume transactional workloads within a controlled environment. The role is best suited to candidates who take ownership of processes and can identify improvements within a structured finance environment.
Key Priorities for the Contract Period
- Maintain stable and accurate cashbook and payment processing across multiple entities
- Ensure timely and complete reconciliations (bank, creditors, credit cards)
- Support month-end close processes and reduce processing backlogs where required
- Maintain strong financial controls over payments and reconciliations
- Identify areas for efficiency and process automation
Cashbook & Payments
- Maintenance of cashbook accounting records
- Processing bank transactions, monitoring accounts and bank reconciliations
- Obtaining appropriate authorisations
- Creating payment batches on the online banking platform for authorisation
- Preparation of monthly credit card reconciliations for sign-off and journal allocation
Creditors & Debtors
- Capturing, maintaining and reconciling monthly creditor invoices and statements
- Processing creditor payments to maintain accounts payable records and ensuring timely settlement
- Responding to creditor and debtor queries
- Preparing recovery invoices in respect of amounts recoverable
- Maintain supporting documentation and audit trails
General Ledger & Reporting
- Generating and processing transactions in the General Ledger system (Great Plains)
- Assisting with the prepayments schedule and the journaling thereof
- Assist with BEE procurement reporting where required
- Basic journalising and management account reporting of minor entities within the group
General & Administrative
- Support travel reconciliations and related queries
- Assist with cost allocations and reconciliations
- Maintaining sound internal controls within the finance and fund administration area
- Support reporting requirements to Group
- Assist with ad hoc tasks as required
Qualifications & Proficiencies
- Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification (e.g. Diploma in Accounting, AAT, or equivalent)
- +5 years’ experience in a financial and accounting environment in a similar role
- Experience with online banking systems (Nedbank advantageous)
- Knowledge and experience in Great Plains will be an added advantage
- Strong Excel capability (comfortable with reconciliations, lookups and large datasets)
- Exposure to process improvement or automation within finance environments will be advantageous.
- Basic understanding of fund management arrangements and structures advantageous
- Sound financial and accounting skills
