Shopify / CRO Web Developer

V8 Media

We are looking for a Shopify / CRO Web Developer to join our web development team. This is a hands-on role. You will take ownership of Shopify builds from start to finish, covering new builds, rebuilds, and ongoing CRO improvements, while also supporting WordPress sites when needed. You do not need to be senior, but you must be proactive, take ownership of your work, and be able to improve from one project to the next without needing to be micromanaged.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Building new Shopify websites and rebuilding existing client stores.
  • Setting up premium Shopify themes with client content, custom sections, metafields, and app integrations.
  • Customising Shopify and WordPress sites using CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and Liquid.
  • Managing Shopify backend setup: products, collections, navigation, filters, apps, payments, and store settings.
  • Running CRO audits on Shopify and WordPress websites and implementing the approved improvements.
  • Building or improving WordPress websites for informational sites and smaller client updates.
  • Communicating directly with clients and the internal team in a clear and professional way.
  • Testing all work properly across mobile, desktop, checkout, forms, links, menus, and key user journeys.
  • Assisting with basic SEO setup, tracking setup, and tracking verification.

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong CSS (this is non-negotiable). You need to be very comfortable here.
  • Solid HTML and working JavaScript knowledge.
  • Shopify theme setup and customisation experience, including Liquid basics.
  • Good understanding of the Shopify backend (products, collections, metafields, apps, shipping, payments).
  • Strong browser DevTools skills. You should live in the inspector.
  • Tracking knowledge: GA4, GTM, Meta Pixel, Google Ads conversions, ecommerce events, and verifying that everything fires correctly.
  • CRO and UX understanding: mobile-first design, product pages, collection pages, cart drawers, trust elements, reviews, and conversion best practices.
  • WordPress capability: layout and content updates, custom CSS, common page builders (Elementor, Divi, or Gutenberg), plugin troubleshooting, and the ability to build out informational WordPress sites.
  • Basic SEO knowledge: meta titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, redirects, alt text, and page structure.
  • Comfort using AI tools to speed up your workflow, without blindly copy-pasting broken code or poor copy.

Good to Have

  • Experience with premium Shopify themes and store migrations.
  • Before-and-after CRO examples you can talk through.
  • Basic image editing using Canva, Photoshop, or Illustrator.

We want someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, client-friendly, and accountable. You should be able to manage your own work, follow up without being asked, write clearly, and keep clients informed. If you need to be chased for every update or told exactly what to do each day, this role is not for you. If you genuinely enjoy building clean, fast, conversion-focused Shopify stores and can back that up with real examples, we want to hear from you.

What to Include When You Apply

  • At least 5 live website examples, with at least 3 being Shopify stores.
  • A clear explanation of what YOU personally did on each project.
  • Any before-and-after CRO work is a strong bonus.
  • WordPress examples showing layout, speed, SEO, or usability improvements.

Applications without portfolio examples will not be considered.
