Job Advert Summary
Wynberg Boys’ Junior School invites applications for Learnership Positions to be effective January 2027 for registered students working towards a teaching qualification (or planning to study) e.g. B.Ed./PGCE.
Minimum Requirements
Requirements:
- Matric certificate with a Bachelor’s Pass qualifying you to enrol for a BEd degree through UNISA, or an appropriate university qualification enabling registration for a PGCE through UNISA
- A genuine passion for teaching and working with children
- Creative, energetic and enthusiastic approach to learning and open to learning and implementing new teaching approaches
- Flexible, collaborative and a strong team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High proficiency in English and strong interpersonal skills
- Comfortable using technology and eager to develop further digital skills
- Strong commitment to extra-mural and co-curricular involvement and the ability and willingness to coach at least one summer and one winter sport.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Learnership, you will be expected to balance academic studies with practical classroom experience. Your core duties include:
- Professional Participation: Active involvement in all school learning activities and adherence to all workplace policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Classroom Engagement: Assisting teachers where required, including in the classroom and participating in extra-mural activities.
- Skill Development: Gaining hands-on experience in essential areas of school life, including:
- Classroom administration and management
- Lesson planning and programme design
- Practical teaching across all Learning Areas
- Coaching and sports administration
- Assessment and report writing
- Working with learners with special educational needs
- Assisting in maintaining learner profiles and portfolios
- Academic Commitment: Conscientious completion of all theoretical learning sessions and study periods. You will be expected to present proof of registration and exam admission letters.
- Mentorship & Assessment: Reporting to designated mentors at agreed times and participating in quarterly progress reviews. This includes completing all required assessment tasks and timesheets to track workplace experience.
- Professional Conduct: Maintaining professional dress and conduct at all times while representing the school.
