ROLE DESCRIPTION
HRV is seeking a hands-on finance executive to lead the transformation and modernisation of the finance function while ensuring sound governance, good financial management, sustainability and operational support across the group.
KEY LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic financial leadership across all villages and service divisions. Reporting to, and supporting the CEO and Board. Contributing to the long-term sustainability of HRV for the benefit of its residents.
- Financial management, governance and statutory compliance. Budgeting, reporting, cash flow management. Ensuring financial integrity and operational efficiency.
- Systems optimisation and digital transformation including migration from Excel-based processes to integrated financial systems and management dashboards.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
1. Financial Planning and Analysis: Budgets, forecasts, monthly variance reports analysis, approvals, tariff/levies structures, sustainability models. Support scenario planning and strategic financial modelling.
2. Financial Reporting: Monthly, quarterly and Annual Financial Statements. Present to the HRV Board
and Committees. Accurate GL, asset registers, project accounting. Produce dashboards and automated packs.
3. Treasury, Cash Flow Management: Cash flow, liquidity, working capital. Debtors, creditors, banking relationships, investments, payment controls, segregation of duties and financial risk management.
4. Statutory, Regulatory Compliance and Internal Controls: Financial, VAT, organisational legislation, payroll, statutory submissions. Accuracy, reconciliations, proper governance/internal controls. Unqualified audit reports. Maintain risk management and compliance frameworks.
5. Systems Digital Transformation and Technology Utilisation: Migration from Excel based processes to integrated financial systems. Modernise financial systems, automate processes, and implement dashboards and AI-enabled tools for: reconciliations, forecasting, document processing, exception reporting. Drive digitisation across Finance and Administration.
6. Property and Development: Oversee financial management of village development and refurbishment projects. Track budgets, cash flow, variance registers and cost‑to‑completion. Support feasibility studies and investment appraisals. Ensure compliance with procurement, governance and capitalisation rules. Work with Architects, Quantity Surveyor, Contractors and Project Managers.
7. Human Resources Administration: Custodian of HR policies and procedures, payroll, and employee
contracts/benefits, information, recordkeeping, workforce costing and HR reporting metrics.
8. Executive Contribution/Support: Financial presentations, briefs, reports, dashboards, financial modelling, strategic inputs to the CEO, Board, Audit Committee, Operations and Village Committees. Supporting Board/CEO projects. Key advisor to the CEO on financial governance, risk, and sustainability. Ensure the CEO receives accurate, timely, and actionable financial information and proposals.
9. Team Leadership: Build a competent, efficient and cohesive team that takes accountability for accuracy, integrity, continuous improvement of themselves and their work methods. Build capacity in digital tools,
dashboards, modern accounting practices. Positive relations/collaboration with other functional heads, residents, and employees. Professional development of team members (i.e. training, mentoring).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Proven track record in a similar financial leadership role.
- CA(SA) preferred or B. Com Accounting (Hons) together with SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA or equivalent recognised professional qualification.
- 3–5 years post-articles, 8+ years' senior financial leadership experience.
- Experience in property, estates, retirement villages, healthcare, hospitals or hospitality sectors advantageous.
- Exposure to ERP implementation, digital transformation, and business intelligence tools such as Power BI/Qlik and AI-enabled accounting tools.
