Mechanical Engineer

AHIT Recruitment is working with an established engineering company to place an experienced Mechanical Engineer. Our client operates within a specialised industrial sector, delivering high-performance engineering solutions across the full equipment lifecycle.

The Role

You will form part of a skilled Engineering team, contributing to design, installation, maintenance, and optimisation projects. The role requires someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and confident working across both local and international engineering standards.

Engineering Systems & Data Management

• Manage and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) using SAP and internal data systems
• Create and update item codes in line with internal standards
• Extract and analyse technical data to support cross-departmental needs

CAD Design & Drafting

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
• Work from general arrangements, site inspections, sketches, and specifications
• Maintain ISO 9001-aligned drawing standards
• Occasional use of SolidWorks

Mechanical Design & Calculations

• Perform load calculations for mechanical assemblies
• Prepare mechanical certification documentation
• Apply knowledge of tolerances and material specifications
• Review and approve technical drawings prior to manufacturing

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Engage with clients and internal teams to deliver practical engineering solutions
• Conduct site visits and provide technical assessments
• Coordinate with workshops and suppliers to ensure fabrication meets specifications
• Liaise with international engineering counterparts

HSEQ Compliance

• Adhere to all HSEQ Management System requirements
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993)
• Support continuous improvement and NCR resolution

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc. or B.Eng.)
• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical drafting and design
• Background in machine building, heavy equipment fabrication or repairs is advantageous
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
• SAP experience beneficial
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work within both local and international engineering frameworks
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
