Our client, a leading organisation within the manufacturing and construction chemicals sector, is seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to join their Johannesburg team. This permanent opportunity is suited to a results-driven sales professional with strong technical aptitude, proven business development capabilities, and extensive experience within industrial markets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing key customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and achieving regional sales targets while delivering exceptional customer service and technical support.
- Achieve and exceed individual sales budgets and targets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers and key accounts.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
- Promote and increase sales of the company's products and services.
- Conduct customer visits, sales presentations, and product demonstrations.
- Plan and execute sales calls effectively and efficiently.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of product applications and technical specifications.
- Conduct product and application training seminars for customers.
- Prepare and submit technical specifications for product applications where required.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments.
- Prepare sales forecasts, monthly reports, and market intelligence reports.
- Manage customer accounts, pricing negotiations, and debtor control activities.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure customer satisfaction and service excellence.
- Assist with the execution of marketing initiatives, product launches, and promotional activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and environmental management systems.
- Matric / NQF 4 qualification.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 10 years' industrial sales experience in a similar role.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Strong business development and key account management experience.
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, construction chemicals, engineering, or related sectors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce experience advantageous).
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and relationship-building abilities.
- Comfortable working with ERP systems and business management tools.
- Customer-focused with strong technical and commercial acumen.
- Basic salary: R55,000 – R60,000 per month (dependent on experience).
