This role establishes a dedicated commercial and marketing ownership function for CRG RSA ecommerce, focused on driving online business growth through improved trade performance, customer engagement, digital marketing integration, and CRM execution.
It acts as the central connector across Marketing, Product & Planning, Operations, and broader digital and ecommerce teams, ensuring alignment, visibility, and a seamless end-to-end customer journey.
While Product & Planning continues to own assortment, pricing, and forecasting, and Operations continues platform execution, this role ensures these functions are commercially and strategically integrated through a unified marketing-led ecommerce growth strategy focused on traffic, conversion, retention, and overall digital performance optimisation
Minimum Requirements
- Strong experience in ecommerce, digital marketing, online trading, and CRM-led retail environments
- Proven understanding of the full digital & ecommerce ecosystem, including customer journeys, online conversion, CRM integration, and digital campaign execution
- Experience working cross-functionally with multiple business stakeholders
- Strong commercial and analytical capability with the ability to translate data into actionable business strategies
- Understanding of performance marketing and online customer acquisition strategies
- Experience within retail, fashion, lifestyle, or omnichannel businesses would be advantageous
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and project management capability
- Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced, matrixed business environments
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the end-to-end ecommerce marketing and trade strategy across CRG RSA brands in partnership with Woolworths Online and CRG Australia teams
- Translate commercial and brand objectives into clear, actionable online growth plans
- Align marketing campaigns, trade activity, CRM, and customer engagement strategies to drive integrated ecommerce performance
- Monitor, analyse, and optimise key ecommerce KPIs including traffic, conversion, basket size, retention, engagement, and campaign ROI
- Drive a test-and-learn optimisation culture across all digital and ecommerce initiatives
- Act as the central integration point between Marketing, Product & Planning, Operations, CRM, Loyalty, and digital stakeholders
- Ensure alignment of trading priorities, campaign calendars, CRM plans, and reporting frameworks across all teams
- Lead regular ecommerce performance reviews and cross-functional alignment sessions to ensure accountability and visibility
- Manage coordination between trade planning, campaign execution, digital content, and customer communications
- Partner with CRM, Insights, and Loyalty teams to develop customer-led engagement and retention strategies
- Support customer segmentation, personalisation, and lifecycle marketing initiatives
- Ensure CRM and loyalty activity is fully integrated into ecommerce trading and campaign planning
- Improve customer engagement and repeat purchase through targeted communication strategies
- Act as key liaison between CRG South Africa and Australian ecommerce and digital teams
- Drive cross-market collaboration and alignment on ecommerce strategy and execution
- Identify opportunities to redirect and optimise traffic and conversion between markets
- Provide visibility on cross-market customer behaviour, traffic flow, and performance trends
- Analyse ecommerce performance and customer behaviour to identify risks, opportunities, and growth drivers
- Develop dashboards, reports, and performance insights for leadership decision-making
- Monitor competitor activity, digital trends, and customer shifts in the online retail environment
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve campaign effectiveness and overall ecommerce performance
