Assistant Accountant

Our client within the manufacturing and construction chemicals industry has an immediate opportunity available for an Assistant Accountant. This is a 3-month contract position with the potential to become permanent, depending on performance and business requirements. The role is based in Durban and requires an immediate start.

• Maintain accurate financial records and accounting systems
• Assist with preparation of financial and management reports
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
• Perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data
• Analyse sales, margins, and financial performance reports
• Provide financial analysis and support to business operations
• Assist with cost management and cost analysis
• Manage fixed assets and company fleet administration
• Support stock control processes and stock take activities
• Assist branches during stock counts and inventory verification
• Perform additional finance-related duties as required

• Matric (Grade 12) essential
• BCom Accounting / Finance qualification
• 3–5 years’ experience in a similar accounting role
• SAP experience is essential
• Strong knowledge of tax and statutory requirements
• Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment advantageous
• Exposure to stock and cost accounting highly beneficial
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure

• Salary: R33,000 – R35,000 per month (depending on experience and job knowledge)
• 3-month contract with potential for permanent employment
• Immediate start required (ASAP)
