Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site English Teacher role based in Cape Town. The English Teacher will design and deliver engaging lessons that develop learners’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in line with Cape Studies’ curriculum and learning objectives. Daily responsibilities include lesson planning, classroom instruction for diverse proficiency levels, monitoring learner progress, and providing constructive feedback to support individual goals. The role involves preparing and assessing assignments and tests, maintaining accurate records of attendance and performance, and participating in staff meetings and professional development activities. The teacher will also contribute to a supportive classroom environment, foster intercultural understanding, and collaborate with colleagues on program improvements and learner support.
Qualifications
- Strong English Teaching and Teaching skills, with demonstrated experience delivering effective language instruction to diverse learner groups.
- Proficiency in Lesson Planning and curriculum delivery, including the ability to adapt materials to different proficiency levels and learning styles.
- Background in Education or a related field, ideally with a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent).
- Excellent Communication skills, including clear spoken and written English and the ability to provide constructive, learner-centered feedback.
- Proven ability to create an inclusive, respectful, and culturally sensitive classroom environment.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with reliability in meeting schedules, deadlines, and administrative requirements.
- Experience teaching in a language school or similar setting is preferred; familiarity with communicative and student-centered teaching methods is an advantage.
- Comfort working collaboratively with a diverse team and openness to ongoing professional development and feedback.
