Claims Manager (Corporate & Public Sector) - R700k – R850k CTC
(Bryanston)
If your idea of claims management is just checking boxes and approving small-scale payouts, keep scrolling. We're looking for a heavyweight Claims Manager who can walk into a high-pressure environment, stare down a significant backlog, and lead a team through a complex business turnaround.
The business has recently navigated a senior management buyout and some operational turbulence. They have already secured new leadership in Underwriting and Claims, and now they need a tactical manager to handle the end-to-end claims function for a premier portfolio of SOEs, Municipalities, and large self-insured corporate clients.
Why this is worth your time
This is not a "maintenance" role. This is a transformation role where you will be credited with rebuilding the operational heartbeat of the brokerage.
- Lead a Turnaround: You will have a direct mandate to design and execute a strategy to eradicate the current claims backlog and bring the department back within acceptable SLAs.
- High-Level Representation: You will represent the brokerage in high-stakes settlement negotiations for some of the country's most prominent public sector entities.
- System Ownership: You will be the internal champion for the Cardinal system, optimising it for data integrity and automated reporting.
- The Reward: As the business stabilises, your success will be met with performance-based bonuses and a clear path for further professional advancement.
What you need to bring
We need someone who is as technical as they are strategic. You must be able to navigate the specific compliance hurdles of the South African insurance landscape.
- Experience: You have 8 to 10 years in Commercial Claims, with at least 3 of those years spent in a management capacity.
- Niche Expertise: You have a proven track record handling claims for Large Property accounts, SOEs, or Municipalities.
- Credentials: You hold a B.Com in Insurance or Law (or equivalent), are a member of the IISA, and have both your RE1 and RE5.
- Compliance Knowledge: You are a specialist in policy interpretation and indemnity disputes, with a deep understanding of FAIS, POPIA, FICA, and TCF.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in the Cardinal Broker Management System is a massive advantage.
The Reality Check
We are playing for high stakes here. The business is working hard to normalise operations after a leadership change. You will be required to be in the Bryanston office whenever the work and the team require it to ensure this turnaround is a success. If you are a fixer who wants to see their impact on a daily basis, this is your next move.
