Salesforce Technical Lead - Cape Town | JHB | Hybrid

About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing technology consulting and digital transformation business delivering Salesforce, workflow automation, integration, and business optimisation solutions to a diverse client base.

They are looking to appoint a hands-on Salesforce Technical Lead to play a key role in leading the technical delivery of Salesforce implementation and enhancement projects. This is a senior role suited to someone who can combine strong Salesforce development capability with technical leadership, solution design input, stakeholder engagement, and developer mentorship.

You will work closely with Solution Architects, Consultants, Delivery Leads, Business Analysts, QA teams, and client stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and well-architected Salesforce solutions across a range of projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Salesforce professional who enjoys remaining close to the build while also taking ownership of technical quality, delivery standards, and team capability.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Solution Delivery

• Lead end-to-end technical delivery across Salesforce implementation and enhancement projects
• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, secure, and well-architected Salesforce solutions
• Work alongside Solution Architects and project teams to guide technical design and architecture decisions
• Champion reusable development patterns, coding standards, governance, and platform best practices
• Ensure solutions are aligned to performance, security, maintainability, and long-term scalability requirements
• Stay current with Salesforce platform releases, features, and emerging development trends

Development, Build & Quality

• Design, develop, review, and enhance Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Salesforce Flows, SOQL, and Salesforce DX
• Lead and contribute to the development of integrations between Salesforce and other business systems using APIs and integration tools
• Conduct peer reviews and uphold quality standards across development outputs
• Support troubleshooting, technical problem solving, defect resolution, and performance optimisation
• Ensure development work adheres to best practice design patterns, governance standards, and compliance requirements
• Support delivery across the full project lifecycle, including discovery, solution design, build, testing, UAT, deployment, and post-go-live support

Integration & Architecture Support

• Contribute to integration design and technical solutioning across Salesforce and external systems
• Work with REST APIs, platform integrations, and connected systems to ensure robust data flows and reliable system interaction
• Support technical decisions around data integration, automation, and platform extensibility
• Assist in shaping architecture direction while balancing immediate delivery needs with longer-term scalability

Mentorship & Team Collaboration

• Mentor and support junior and mid-level Salesforce developers
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to the wider delivery team
• Work closely with Delivery Leads, Business Analysts, QA teams, and Consultants to ensure smooth project execution
• Help foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning
• Contribute to the growth and maturity of the Salesforce development capability within the business

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Engage directly with clients to understand business goals, clarify requirements, and provide trusted technical guidance
• Participate in technical workshops, design sessions, and solution discussions
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Support deployment planning and delivery management to ensure successful client outcomes

Minimum Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience
• Proven experience leading Salesforce development teams and full-lifecycle Salesforce delivery projects
• Strong practical experience with:
  • Apex
  • Lightning Web Components (LWC)
  • Salesforce Flows
  • SOQL
  • Salesforce DX
• Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture principles and platform best practices
• Experience with Salesforce integrations and integration patterns, including REST APIs, platform integrations, and external system connectivity
• CI/CD and DevOps experience, ideally with tools such as Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar
• Strong Git-based development experience and version control discipline
• Experience balancing hands-on development with technical leadership and delivery oversight
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills

Highly Advantageous

• Experience working across multi-cloud Salesforce projects
• Exposure to Platform Events, event-driven integrations, and broader Salesforce integration patterns
• Strong data integration experience, including MuleSoft or custom API-based integrations
• Experience leading code reviews, performance tuning, and technical governance
• Exposure to test automation, static code analysis, and monitoring / observability tooling
• Salesforce certifications such as:
  • Platform Developer I
  • Platform Developer II
  • Salesforce Architect certifications
  • Integration Architect
• Copado or other relevant DevOps / CI/CD certifications
