Role Description
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Site Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of an opencast coal mining site. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all legal requirements, achieving production targets, managing personnel, and maintaining high safety and operational standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Company Policies.
- Manage daily mining operations to achieve production and quality targets.
- Oversee drill, blast, load, haul, and rehabilitation activities.
- Lead and develop supervisors, operators, and support staff.
- Monitor production performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage contractors and service providers on site.
- Ensure effective equipment utilisation and maintenance planning.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations.
- Manage operational budgets and control costs.
- Ensure environmental compliance and adherence to rehabilitation requirements.
- Prepare and submit operational reports to management
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Relevant Mining Qualification.
- Valid Blasting Certificate.
- Legal Liability Certificate.
- Competent A Certificate.
- Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency will be advantageous.
- Minimum 8–10 years' experience in open-cast mining operations.
- At least 5 years' experience in a senior management role.
- Sound knowledge of mining legislation, safety standards, and operational best practices.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Valid driver's licence.
