PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Laundry Assistant is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, quality, and turnaround times, supporting the smooth operation of hospital services through the timely handling of both in-house and outsourced laundry while adhering to established procedures and professional service standards.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Wash and dry all in-house laundry correctly and complete all laundry tasks within the required timeframes.
- Collect laundry from the wards and distribute clean laundry to the wards in a timely manner.
- Accurately count clean laundry and verify that quantities correspond with the relevant documentation.
- Complete and maintain all paperwork related to outsourced laundry accurately.
- Conduct the handover of dirty linen and the receipt of clean linen in a professional manner.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate.
- Preferably some experience within a laundry environment.
- Preferably have knowledge of and experience with machinery used in a laundry environment.
- This position requires working shifts, including night shifts.
- Must be prepared to work weekends.
Skills
- Must possess excellent inter-personal skill.
