An established and growing accounting and advisory firm based in Randburg is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead its tax function and provide technical expertise across a diverse client portfolio.

This opportunity is ideal for a tax professional with extensive taxation knowledge, strong leadership capability, and proven experience managing teams within a professional services environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing tax compliance, advising clients on tax matters, managing staff performance, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality tax services.

  • Manage and oversee the firm's tax department and tax team.
  • Review and submit corporate, individual, trust, and provisional tax returns.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical tax advice and guidance to clients across various industries.
  • Handle SARS queries, objections, appeals, audits, and dispute resolutions.
  • Review tax calculations, assessments, and reconciliations.
  • Monitor legislative changes and communicate tax implications to clients and staff.
  • Develop and implement efficient tax processes and internal controls.
  • Manage client relationships and provide proactive tax planning solutions.
  • Mentor, train, and develop junior and senior tax staff.
  • Conduct performance management and team development initiatives.
  • Assist directors and partners with strategic tax planning and advisory projects.
  • Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities to expand tax service offerings.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional tax qualification or registration will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a tax-focused role within an accounting, audit, or professional services environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of South African tax legislation, including Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, and related taxes.
  • Extensive experience dealing directly with SARS.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team of tax professionals.
  • Strong technical research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
  • Experience reviewing the work of junior and senior team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office applications.
