DBN000309 – Assistant Farm Manager – Hilton KZN

Purpose of the job

Assisting the Farm Manager to bridge the gap between high-level operational strategy and daily, hands-on production.

Required Qualifications

• Horticultural Degree and proven experience in the agricultural field.
• Good people management, good task planning, excellent problem solving, and excellent computer literacy
• Ability to take ownership of designated farm operations and ensure tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards.

POSITION INFO

Technical Competencies and responsibilities Assisting the Farm Manager with planning of field plans, plant orders and plant care Assisting with Flower Production, forecasting, harvesting and packing Assisting the Farm Manager with staff management ie. Performance improvement, discipline and training Assist with the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Global G.A.P. and SIZA systems and procedures. Maintain accurate documentation and records required for certification. Conduct internal inspections and assist with internal and external audits. Address audit findings and corrective actions timeously. Be technically competent and confident using digital systems. Ensure electronic records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready. Generate reports to support operational decision-making and compliance. Manage farm materials - consumables, chemicals and fertilizers. Monitor material stock levels and coordinate timely ordering. Ensure farm equipment and vehicles are operated responsibly and maintained in good working order Behavioural Competencies: First class Communication Skills both verbal and written. Ability to Multitasking Time management skills. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Good fault-finding / problem solving skills.
