Career Opportunity: Secretary to the Governor

The Central Bank of Lesotho invites applications for the position of Secretary to the Governor.

The role contributes to the effective management of the Governor’s office by providing high-level administrative, personal assistance, and secretarial services. The incumbent will act as a primary liaison between the Governor’s office and internal and external stakeholders, and provide operational support to the Deputy Governor’s secretarial team during periods of absence.

Core Responsibilities

Correspondence and Reporting

  • Handle the Governor’s physical and electronic mail, including receiving and processing internal and external correspondence
  • Draft, review, and dispatch confidential correspondence to both internal and external stakeholders

Information Management

  • Maintain physical and digital filing systems while handling highly sensitive and classified macroeconomic and regulatory data with discretion and integrity
  • Oversee secure capturing, indexing, and digital archiving of executive correspondence and sensitive documentation in compliance with Central Bank policies
  • Manage a structured document management system that enables rapid retrieval of briefing notes, legal files, and stakeholder records to support data-driven decision-making

Diary and Calendar Management

  • Proactively manage the Governor’s diary and appointments
  • Schedule appointments, prioritise meeting requests, and resolve scheduling conflicts
  • Prepare and provide documents required for the Governor’s meetings

Stakeholder Liaison

  • Serve as a primary liaison between the Governor’s Office and:
    • Other central banks (regional and international)
    • Government ministries and institutions
    • Commercial bank executives
    • International financial institutions
    • Central Bank Executive Management Teams
  • Act as the first point of contact for incoming calls and visitors, screening and redirecting where necessary

Budget, Travel and Logistics Administration

  • Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements, including itineraries, visas, accommodation, and registrations
  • Coordinate and monitor the budget for the Governor’s Office

Special Projects Support

  • Coordinate and manage the Governor’s protection team
  • Facilitate hosting of regional meetings for the Governor’s Office
  • Coordinate special projects where applicable
  • Manage the Governor’s domestic assistants and act as a liaison between them and the Bank

Qualifications And Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following:
    • Management
    • Administration
    • Communications
    • Human Resources
  • Additional Diploma in Secretarial Studies will be an added advantage

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an executive support or executive assistant role
  • Experience supporting a C-suite executive within a central bank, multinational organisation, or government agency is preferred

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and office management software
  • Fast and accurate typing and transcription skills

Language

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in an official business language
