Palladium is currently seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Finance Assistant to join our team and support Data.FI project implementation in Lesotho. The Finance Assistant will be responsible for supporting day-to-day financial management functions, ensuring accurate financial recordkeeping, and contributing to the efficient administration of project funds in compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
In this role, the successful candidate will assist with processing financial transactions, maintaining accounting records, preparing financial documentation, and supporting budget tracking and reporting. The Finance Assistant will work closely with the finance and project teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations, while maintaining strong internal controls and adherence to established financial procedures. The position requires strong attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple financial tasks within a fast-paced project environment.

In Lesotho, Data.FI supports the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the USG to design and implement digital HIS components, improve data use, and strengthen information security initiatives. The Finance Assistant will provide critical financial and administrative support to these activities by assisting with budgeting processes, tracking project expenditures, and ensuring proper documentation of financial transactions in line with donor and organizational policies.
The role will contribute to effective project delivery by supporting financial planning, maintaining organized financial records, assisting with audits, and facilitating timely reporting. Working closely with project staff, partners, and vendors, the Finance Assistant will help ensure the proper stewardship of project resources and compliance with all financial regulations. The position will also support logistical and financial preparations for project activities, including workshops, stakeholder engagements, and operational expenses.
This position is based in Maseru, Lesotho. The fixed term of this assignment is 3 months, from July 2026 through September 2026.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, processing, and recording of financial transactions in accordance with organizational policies
- Support accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing and payment tracking
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation
- Assist in budget monitoring and expenditure tracking for project activities
- Prepare payment vouchers, petty cash reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Conduct bank and account reconciliations on a regular basis
- Support preparation of financial reports for internal and donor requirements
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations, financial policies, and audit requirements
- Assist with procurement-related financial processes, including verification of supporting documentation
- Support audit processes by organizing and providing required financial records
- Collaborate with project staff to ensure proper coding and allocation of expenses
- Provide logistical and financial support for workshops, trainings, and stakeholder engagements
- Maintain proper filing of financial documents for ease of retrieval and audit readiness
- Coordinate with local vendors to obtain quotations, coordinate invoicing, and process payments for all service providers;
- Prepare procurement documents and ensure procurement is done as per Palladium’s defined processes, and Donor’s rules and regulations;
- Maintain complete, accurate and timely financial records; prepare and submit monthly financial reports as directed by Country Director/Finance & Administration Manager in timely manner; appropriately file paper and electronic copies of all supporting documents
- Contribute to the development of activity budgets for project-related activities.
- Manage and control office supplies.
- Provide support for the day-to-day management of the office including managing the reception area.
- Perform any other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field;
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in broader finance and administration management with an international organization, including HR, finance, IT, and logistics.
- Familiarity with DOS funded projects and/or experience working on an international development project.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Excellent financial and analytical skills.
- Proven problem identification and resolution experience with budgeting, forecasting, banking, tax authorities, foreign currency transactions, and other related issues.
- Strong English (written and oral) communication skills.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Local candidates only-no relocation expenses provided.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Lesotho
Reporting And Supervision
- Reports to the Data.FI Finance and Administration Manager.
- Provision of regular updates.
- Other reporting as requested.
Relationships
- The role is part of the Data.FI Project Delivery Team and will work in coordination with the Finance and Administration manager as well as US-based project management staff.
- This role will not have supervisory responsibilities.
Levels Of Authority
- Under the oversight of the Finance and Administration Manager, perform preliminary processing for assigned activities.
- Assist in responsibility for creating and maintaining procurement project files and documentation.
Location: Maseru, Lesotho
Contract Duration: The contract period is until September 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and funding availability.
