Background
Lesotho Planned Parenthood Association (LPPA) is a non – profit organisation, affiliated to International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and registered in 1968 under the Lesotho Society’s Act. LPPA remains a leading provider of integrated Sexual and Reproduction Health (SRH) information and services to men, women, youth and marginalised groups; prevention, mitigation of HIV and AIDS and advocating for sexual and reproductive rights in the country with the main purpose of increasing access to high quality services that are gender – specific.
- Experts
Provides strategic leadership and governance oversight to ensure the Association achieves its mission, objectives, and long-term sustainability. Oversees organizational performance, financial accountability, policy development, resource mobilization, and the management of the Executive Director.
Main Duties
- Ensure member integrity and collective responsibility
- Determine the Association’s strategic direction and policies
- Ensure the development of the Association’s strategic plan
- Approve and provide oversight on the Association’s Annual Programme Budget
- Review annual and other reports for action from the Association
- Appoint and decide on the terms and conditions of service of the Executive Director
- Provides guidance, support, and supervision to the Executive Director
- Appraise and terminate the contract of the Executive Director
- Review, amend or revise the staff conditions of service; financial rules and regulations, and other procedures required for the sound management of the Association’s business.
- Monitor and review the Association’s performance
- Provide effective oversight of the Association’s financial health and thus
- Consider and submit annual audited financial statement of the Association to the General Assembly for review and approval
- Undertake resource mobilization activities for the Association
- Ensure its own review and renewal
- Self-assess its performance based on the Board’s work plan and set objectives, supported by the NGMC
- Be open, responsive and accountable
- Undertake advocacy for the Association
- Establish standing committees
- Consider proposals presented to it by the Executive Director
- Initiate policies for consideration by the General Assembly
- Consider and if deemed appropriate recommend for approval by the General Assembly the Constitution of the Association, Regulations and any amendments thereto
- Provide legal expertise and advice on Association matters
- Develop and Implement resource mobilization strategies
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities
- Build relationships with Donors and Partners
- Develop and manage grants and funding proposals
- Ensure policies are aligned with Association’s goals and objectives
- Conduct policy research and analysis
- Develop and recommend policy updates

Portfolios, Qualifications And Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) and above in Public Policy, Law, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Governance, Communication, Marketing, Professional qualification, or Development Studies
- Affiliation to a professional or regulatory body will be and added advantage
- At least 7–10 years’ senior-level experience in governance, policy, finance, development, or executive leadership
- Proven experience in board governance, strategic planning, and executive oversight
- Demonstrated experience in financial oversight, donor relations, and resource mobilization
- Strong understanding of Lesotho’s NGO regulatory and governance environment
