The Radiation Protection Agency (RPA) is a statutory body responsible for regulating the safe use of ionizing radiation to protect people and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation in Lesotho.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regulatory inspections of facilities that use radiation sources.
- Prepare inspection reports and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Assess compliance with radiation safety, security, and other requirements.
- Assist in authorization, licensing, and monitoring activities.
- Participate in enforcement actions, follow-up inspections, and other regulatory duties.
- Support radiation emergency preparedness and response activities.
- Assist in public awareness and stakeholder engagement programmes.
- Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree with Physics and/or Chemistry, or Health Physics.
- Postgraduate Education Course in Radiation Protection (PGEC) will be an added advantage.
Experience
- At least three (3) years of experience in a radiation-related field.
- Basic knowledge of radiation safety principles and regulatory frameworks.
- Basic understanding of radiation detection mechanisms.
- Experience in regulatory activities will be an added advantage.

Remuneration
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive package in accordance with the Agency’s terms and conditions of service.
Employment Type
Permanent and pensionable.
Travel Requirements
This position requires frequent travel throughout Lesotho and occasional international travel. Applicants must be willing and able to travel as required.
