BD Advanced Patient Monitoring is a global leader in advanced monitoring solutions that expands BD's portfolio of smart connected care solutions with its growing set of leading monitoring technologies, advanced AI-enabled clinical decision tools and robust innovation pipeline. BD Advanced Patient Monitoring's technologies are often used simultaneously with the BD Alaris Infusion System in the operating room or intensive care units. The combination of BD's new advanced monitoring and existing infusion platforms enables future innovation opportunities for closed-loop hemodynamic monitoring and IV fluid and medication administration by integrating combined company data sets and interoperability capabilities.
About the role
The Sales Representative – APM is responsible for driving sales growth, customer engagement, and market penetration of BD’s Advanced Patient Monitoring portfolio within an assigned territory in South Africa.
The role focuses on building strong customer relationships, delivering clinical and commercial value, and achieving sales targets, while ensuring high standards of compliance and customer experience.
Main responsibilities will include
1. Sales Performance & Territory Management
- Achieve or exceed assigned sales targets and business objectives
- Develop and execute territory business plans
- Identify new business opportunities and drive market share growth
- Maintain accurate pipeline and reporting in CRM systems (e.g., SFDC)
2. Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs), hospitals and procurement stakeholders
- Act as a trusted partner, understanding customer needs and aligning BD solutions
- Deliver clinical and product presentations to customers
3. Clinical & Product Expertise
- Develop strong knowledge of APM technologies and applications
- Provide product demonstrations and basic clinical support
- Support training initiatives for end-users where required
4. Market Intelligence & Business Planning
- Gather insights into competitors, market trends, customer needs
- Provide structured feedback to sales and marketing teams
- Contribute to local marketing and product launch activities
5. Tender & Commercial Support
- Support participation in tender processes and strategic accounts
- Collaborate with internal teams for pricing, proposals, and execution
- Ensure timely follow-up and conversion of opportunities
6. Compliance & Operational Excellence
- Adhere to BD policies, ethics, and compliance standards
- Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and forecasting
- Manage expenses within approved budgets
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Nursing, or similar
- Experience in sales/marketing (with strong clinical exposure)
- 2–5 years in medical device sales or healthcare environment
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Commercial mindset with an ability to close deals
- Field-based role with frequent travel within South Africa
